Robert Glasper - So Beautiful
Robert Glasper began his recording career back in 2002, shortly after graduating from The New School in New York. His music and producing credits range from jazz to Hip Hop to R&B. He deserves to be heard.
More recently, Robert Glasper has become the darling of the Blue Note Jazz Clubs world-wide. He was the opening act for the first week at the new Blue Note in Los Angeles, and will soon be touring Japan, returning to play in Los Angeles again for two weeks in December.
His music is often meditative as well as harmonically challenging. This video, from a live album performed at Capital Studio fits that mold. "So Beautiful" consists of just a few chords, repeated over and over again. Similar to "Peace Piece" by Bill Evans, the music carries the listener to a different place if you give yourself over to it.
Here is "So Beautiful" with Robert on piano, and his quintessential piano trio lineup of Vicente Archer on bass and Damion Reid on drums
